DAKOTA CITY, Neb. - Three people are dead after a northeast Nebraska crash early Monday morning.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office and the Nebraska State Patrol are investigating after an accident near Emerson at approximately 4:30 a.m.

According to the Dakota County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened northeast of Emerson on Highway 35. An Acura reportedly crossed the center line and side-swiped a Buick before colliding nearly head-on with a semi tractor trailer.

All three people in the Acura were pronounced dead at the scene. No additional injuries were reported.

Identities of the victims have not yet been released.
