Elkhorn Valley Museum holds afternoon new years celebration
NORFOLK, neb.-One museum in northeast Nebraska hosted an afternoon New Year’s celebration to help families make it to bedtime on time.
The Elkhorn Valley Museum ushered in the new year with an all-ages party and a balloon drop right as the clock struck noon. The event was held in the museum’s community room, which was filled with families.
Museum Executive Director Libby McKay says Norfolk does not have many daytime celebrations for the new year.
"We thought it could be something we could offer the community that would be fun to do as a family and give you an engaging fun event," McKay said.
McKay says this is the second time they have held the event and hopes to continue next year heading into 2027.
Some of the kids in attendance offered their New Year's resolutions.
“Probably like spending a lot of time with my family, doing fun games, reading books, I just like to do that in the new year,” said Parker Kauth.
“Probably more exercise and less snacks,” said Brenda Love.
“I’m excited for 6th grade," said Hadley.
“ To see my friends again.” said Avery Fisher.
“Probably like crafts, I already drew and cut out ghosts this morning,” said Alex Fisher.
