UPDATE: Driver treated for life-threatening injuries after Highway 35 crash
HOSKINS, Neb.-- One person has life-threatening injuries after a crash that shut down around a mile of Highway 35 for 3.5 hours.
A Chevrolet Avalanche pickup was heading west when it crossed the center line and struck a semi-trailer heading east, a Nebraska State Patrol spokesman said. The driver of the pickup was initially transported by Hoskins Rescue and then flown to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha with life-threatening injuries.
The semi driver had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Dozens of first responders were at the scene of near Hoskins, northeast of Norfolk around 3:30 Thursday afternoon.
The scene showed a white pickup truck missing one tire facing east in the westbound lane.
The semi-trailer was jackknifed in the eastbound ditch and the Hazardous Material Management team was called in for fuel leakage.
