A former Norfolk Panther football player may see the field this weekend as Nebraska takes on the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder Saturday.

Family members tell News Channel Nebraska that Lane McCallum took reps at kicker this week for the Huskers. Starting kicker Barrett Pickering did not play last weekend due to injury and freshman walk-on Dylan Jorgensen struggled in his debut.

According to family, McCallum is making the trip with the team to Boulder and it is a game-time decision on whether he will kick in the game this weekend.

McCallum is listed at safety on Nebraska's roster, but he has plenty of kicking experience. In high school, McCallum was an all-state kicker for the Norfolk Panthers. He is the school's all-time leading point scorer. He also played on both offense and defense in high school. McCallum also spent a year at Air Force Academy as a kicker before transferring to Nebraska.
