NORFOLK - Four people were transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle accident near Norfolk Sunday afternoon.

Sergeant David McCart with the Madison County Sheriff's Department says around 1:00 PM, a silver Mercury traveling along 61st Street west of Norfolk attempted to cross Highway 275. While crossing the roadway, an eastbound vehicle struck the Mercury, causing a t-bone collision.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, and transported four people to Faith Regional Health Services. Sgt. McCart says the injuries are all non-life threatening, and seat belts were in use and airbags deployed in the accident.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and eastbound traffic on Highway 275 was restricted to one lane while the scene was cleared.
