NORFOLK -

“You cannot buy a reputation…you must earn it.”

 - Harvey MacKay

It’s fair to say that Norfolk Catholic football has earned its reputation. It's a reputation that precedes them, even after an 0-3 start to this season.

They won’t get the luxury of being overlooked by this week’s opponent.

#1 BRLD is in just their fourth year as a program, but they’ve already built up a pretty strong reputation. Strong enough to earn the number one ranking in Class C2 after a 3-0 start.

The Wolverines have a dynamic offense, the kind that will test the mettle of a Norfolk Catholic team that has already seen three championship-caliber offenses this year - in Pierce, Aquinas, and St. Paul.

Norfolk Catholic faces the rare reality of being a fairly overwhelming underdog this week. But don’t tell that to BRLD. They remember last year’s 49 to 14 loss to the Knights, and they don’t want history to repeat.

For an early-season non-district game there is a lot on the line Friday. It’s a chance for a legendary program to correct their season’s trajectory. A chance for some new blood to cement themselves as the new standard-bearer in their class. It’s the type of game on which reputations are earned.
