NORFOLK, Neb. -- A meth-related conviction resulted in 10 years of prison time for a Norfolk man.

Acting U.S. Attorney Susan Lehr said 49-year-old Roberto Nava, of Norfolk, was sentenced in federal court in Omaha on July 6. He was convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Nava will serve 120 months in prison with a five-year term of supervised release after. There is no parole in the federal system. He will also forfeit $42,000 in drug proceeds to the U.S.

Authorities said Drug Enforcement Administration agents became aware that a person by the name of Roberto Nava was selling pound amounts of meth in the Norfolk area in August 2021. Using a confidential source, agents set up the purchase of meth on two occasions.

Officials said Nava came and delivered the meth each time. Nava delivered one pound of meth on Aug. 24, 2021, and then delivered two pounds of meth on Sept. 23, 2021.

According to court documents, the agents used a search warrant on Nava’s home after the second buy. They found a half pound of meth and $42,000 in drug proceeds. A forensic laboratory analysis confirmed the meth as 95% pure.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
