LINCOLN - The Norfolk Catholic Knights journey for their first State Championship came to a close on Friday afternoon, falling to the #1 overall seeded Lincoln Lutheran Warriors 25-21, 25-14, 25-13.

The Knights entered the semi-final matchup after defeating the Yutan Chieftains in the opening round the day prior.

Lincoln Lutheran, 33-3 on the season, are also reigning champions for three-straight seasons.

The first set was back and forth, with the Warriors getting a small cushion, while the Knights remained in the fight. Norfolk Catholic didn't ever take the lead late, but battled late in the set.

Eventually, Lincoln Lutheran took set one 25-21.

The Warriors got up big early in set two, finding a lot of attacking opportunities through the middle by Bella Sjuts, Ava Jurevicius and Lily Wohlgemuth. The Warriors finished strong for a 25-14 victory to go up 2-0.

Lincoln Lutheran continued to roll in the third set, as the offense found success in nearly every opportunity.

The Warriors finished the sweep with the 25-13 set three victory.

Leading the way for the Warriors was Lily Wohlgemuth with 14 kills, followed by Bella Sjuts with 13 and Ava Jurevicius with 9.

For Norfolk Catholic, Sidonia Wattier tallied 10 kills and two blocks, while Ava Wemhoff racked up 7 kills and Danielle Carney scoring 6.

The Knights will play in the 3rd place game on Saturday at 3 PM at the Lincoln North Star High School gym against the Johnson-Brock Eagles.
