NORFOLK, Neb. -- The All Star Abilities Fest was an opportunity for people of all ages, and their families to connect to resources, receive education, and network with others.

The event was organized by Baseball Buddies and the All Abilities Inc. They held the All Star Abilities Fest on Feb. 1 at YMCA Field House.

A few of the services provided were Patty Prauner from S.M.I.L.E.S. - she has a horse farm for people to go out and ride. They also had the Enable Group, which deals with finances for kids with special needs. Hands of the Heartland provided respite care, vocational rehab, and employment in and around Norfolk.

Part of that day not only had unique services but several fun activities like a craft table, face painting, bounce house, corn-hole, football, and soccer.

After seeing the amount of children from all different backgrounds participate and get along, there was a reason Rachael Hoefer, Norfolk Buddy Baseball President & Founder, continues to do this without fail year after year.

“As a parent of a special needs kid, the biggest thing for me is the no judgment,” said Hoefer. “Being themselves. Being able to be part of things that they can't normally be part of for whatever reason.”
