Tomahawks Fly, But No Blast From Boat Gun
NEBRASKA CITY – Tomahawks fly at AppleJack, but the 3 mm boat gun gets cut from parade.
Bill Hayes and the Lewis and Clark Re-enactors are putting tomahawks in the hands of hundreds of visitors with just a little description about the usefulness of the tomahawk and the reaction of the expedition leader if a tomahawk ever got lost.
The re-enactors will be among those riding the Lewis and Clark replica boat, the “White Pirogue” at the AppleJack Parade, but it’s gun is to remain silent.
Hayes said he learned Saturday morning that it was thought that the gun, blasting with powder, might be too loud.
