Osmond unveils memorial to honor town's veterans
One town in northeast Nebraska now has a new memorial to honor its veterans.
Osmond dedicated its memorial earlier this month. It lists the names of over 700 men and women from Osmond who have served in the military from the Civil War to today.
15 of the names included are of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Sons of the American Legion member Ron Stech says compiling the list and learning about the individuals was an amazing experience.
"I've come to the realization that each one of these individuals are very special people that answered the call to support their country when their country needed them in a time of need."
Stech's father and grandfather's names are included on the monument. The memorial has room to add more names to the list in the future. It cost about $85,000 to build.
