Tigers Top Eagles in Back-And-Forth Thriller

OSMOND - The hometown Tigers set the tone for another fantastic season with a 32-27 comeback win over Allen Friday night.
Ryan Schmit was the man of the moment, with 3 interceptions on the night to go along with 2 offensive scores as well.
Allen opened up a big lead in the first half, scoring on 3 of their first 4 possessions. The Eagles were led by a three-pronged rushing attack of Gabe Reinert, Joe Grone & Ryan Anderson, who paced Allen to a 21-6 second-quarter lead.
But Schmit turned the tide late in the 1st half with a big pick that set up his own 26-yard scoring reception from QB Patrick Vinson, to cut the halftime lead to 21-12.
Osmond trimmed the deficit to 21-18 in the 3rd quarter on a TD grab from Alex Vinson, who came up with the play of the night on the next possession. An Allen punt was partially blocked, shot straight up in the air at midfield and took a Tiger bounce to the Eagle 30, where most of the players on the field assumed it would be downed. All except Vinson, who picked up the ball on the dead run and scampered untouched for the score and the lead.
But Allen wasn't done yet. Reinert's 3rd score of the night from 37 yards out put the Eagles back on top 27-24 halfway through the 4th. Then it was the Tigers' turn. A perfectly lofted pass from Patrick Vinson to Ryan Schmit set up 1st-and-goal, where Vinson called his own number for the game-winning score. Another Schmit interception at midfield sealed the deal.
Osmond (1-0) is on the road against Niobrara-Verdigre, while Allen (0-1) heads home to take on Mead.
