NORFOLK, Neb. -- Two people were arrested in Norfolk after a traffic stop reportedly uncovered over 100 alprazolam pills, fentanyl and a gun.

On Saturday shortly after midnight, an NPD officer pulled a vehicle over for speeding on E. Norfolk Avenue, making contact with the two occupants

According to an NPD press release, the officer observed heavy smoke coming from inside the vehicle that reportedly smelled of burnt marijuana. The officer also reported seeing the passenger reaching for something between the seats.

The NPD release notes that both occupants were asked to exit the vehicle, at which point they became argumentative.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers located more than 100 pills, a baggie with a white powder that tested positive for fentanyl, and a loaded 9mm pistol that was reportedly located in the area where the officer said the passenger was reaching.

The driver, 19-year-old Dionte R. Ray of Omaha, and the passenger, 22-year-old Nasim A. McQueen of Maryland, were both arrested.

McQueen was booked for two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during delivery of a controlled substance, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Ray was booked for two counts of delivery of a controlled substance.
