TILDEN, Neb. -- A serious crash Thursday morning shut down a portion of Highway 275 in Antelope County in northeast Nebraska.

Reports of a crash involving a semi and a pickup were received at approximately 9:00 a.m. LifeNet was called to the scene of the accident and the driver of the pickup, 42-year-old Dennis Sothman of Alabama, was flown to a hospital in Sioux City for medical treatment of injuries that were considered serious but not life-threatening.

The pickup's other occupant, 20-year-old Andrew Stephenson of Florida, was transported to Faith Regional in Norfolk where he was treated and released.

The driver of the semi, 29-year-old Eric Powell of Tilden, was uninjured.

Nebraska State Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas said that investigators believe an eastbound pickup was driving recklessly and crossed the center line and struck a semi, which had attempted to swerve, in the westbound lane.

Authorities in the area closed Highway 275 between Tilden and Oakdale for several hours before re-opening it around 12:45 p.m.

The investigation remains ongoing.
