WOODLAND PARK, Neb. -- One person was hospitalized after being seriously injured in an early-morning ATV accident on Friday.

Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger says his office responded to a call about two ATVs involved in an accident just after 1:30 a.m.

One driver was reportedly unconscious and bleeding. Upon arriving, deputies located one injured party who had been ejected from his ATV and was seriously injured at the intersection of Meadow Lane and North Eastwood.

The injured driver, 45-year-old Charles Cummings of Norfolk was transported to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk from the scene by Hoskins/Woodland Park rescue.

Cummings was also cited for unlawful operation of an ATV and driving while Intoxicated.

The driver of the second ATV that was involved, 34-year-old Eric Sloan of Norfolk was not injured and was also arrested for driving while intoxicated and unlawful operation of an ATV. Neither driver was wearing a helmet, nor were the ATV’s equipped for night time driving, Unger said.
