NORFOLK, Neb. -- A Norfolk man was arrested on third-degree domestic assault charges after police found a woman and two children hiding in a closet.

Norfolk Police were called to the 1300 block of E. Grove Avenue Saturday morning just before noon.

A caller stated that there two adults and children yelling in a nearby apartment.

When officers arrived, they reported still hearing yelling coming from the apartment. According to an NPD press release, officers knocked for an extended period of time, getting no answer.

Officers then proceeded to enter the apartment where they reported seeing fresh blood and signs of an apparent struggle.

NPD officers located Emmanuel Flores, 33, of Norfolk exiting a bedroom, according to Norfolk Police Capt. Michael Bauer.

Flores was reportedly uncooperative with the officers and would not say who was injured and bleeding.

Officers then located an injured adult female and two children hiding in a bedroom closet.

The female’s left eye was swollen shut, and bruised, and she had a bloody nose, Bauer said.

Flores was arrested for third degree domestic assault. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
