Norfolk superintendent, NWU professor on LPS shortlist

A northeast Nebraska school administrator and a current college professor are among the finalists for the top spot in the Lincoln Public Schools District.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska school administrator and a current college professor are among the finalists for the top spot in the Lincoln Public Schools District.

Norfolk Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jami Jo Thompson has been announced among the shortlist identified Tuesday by a consulting firm hired by the district.

Thompson has been superintendent in Norfolk since 2013. She was also a finalist for a superintendent's position in Missouri in January of 2020.

Antwan Wilson, a current assistant professor at Nebraska Wesleyan University who also runs a consulting service, has also been named to the list.

Wilson grew up in Lincoln and Wichita, graduating from Lincoln High and Nebraska Wesleyan. He has served in administration for schools in Oakland, California, and Washington, D.C., also holding positions Raleigh, N.C., Denver, Colo., Lincoln and Wichita.

The other finalists include Sioux City, Iowa, superintendent Paul Gausman and Peter Licata, a superintendent from Palm Beach, Florida.

Interviews with the finalists will begin next month.
