NORFOLK, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska man is in custody after allegedly throwing liquid from a coffee mug at a woman and then striking her in the face.

Norfolk Police were called to a residence in the 800 block of S. 18th Street shortly after 7:00 p.m. When officers arrived, they were able to have contact with a woman on site.

Officers reported finding the woman bleeding from lacerations on her face. 

During the investigation, officers learned that there had been an argument between the victim and 26-year-old Timothy Mauldwin.

During the disturbance, the man reportedly had a coffee mug. He allegedly threw the liquid that was in the mug on the victim before throwing the mug and striking her in the face, causing the lacerations. The man was arrested for 2nd-degree domestic assault and was booked into the Norfolk City Jail. He was later transported to the Madison County Jail.
