INMAN, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska home was completely destroyed by a fire on Sunday.

Firefighters from multiple units were called to the scene northwest of Inman, a town of approximately 100 people, on Sunday afternoon. There, firefighters found the home near Highway 20/275 completely engulfed in flames.

O'Neill Volunteer Fire Department was the first unit to respond, with Ewing and Page providing mutual aid.

Due to high wind conditions, embers started a nearby field and grass on fire, forcing responders to operate multiple methods of firefighting at the same time.

OVFD also credited Prouty Construction for bringing an excavator to assist in assessing the areas safely.

The State Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the blaze. The home is considered a total loss.

Inman is located about 11 miles southeast of O'Neill.
