Norfolk Public Schools opposes LB1158
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Norfolk Public School's government relations committee has written a letter opposing LB1158.
LB1158 is a bill that would require public school teachers to publish their lesson plans online. NPS says they are not against the required transparency the bill would require. Currently, NPS has guidelines put in place which would allow teachers to share lesson plans to parents by request. Instead, officials said, they are against what the bill would take away if the guidelines were not followed.
"If you didn't follow these very specific and strict mandates, your school system could lose all of their state aid and property tax funding, which seems quite extreme," Dr. Jenna Hatfield-Waite explained.
According to Hatfield-Waite, the hearing for LB1158 will take place on Tuesday, February 15.
