NORFOLK, Neb. -- A 46-year-old Norfolk man caused a disturbance for a supposed loss of $100 and an unfinished beer.

The Norfolk Police Division said that police were called for a disturbance at a business in the 2100 block of Pasewalk Ave just after 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Authorities said that when police arrived they were met by employees who stated that the man was upset and causing a disturbance. Employees explained that the man thought that staff did not let him place a wager on a keno game and that he felt he lost $100 because of it.

Officials said that the staff requested that the man leave for the day.

Officers had contact with the 46-year-old man. They explained the situation, then they asked him to pay his bill and leave for the day.

NPD officials said the intoxicated man initially refused to pay his bill, but later conceded after authorities explained that it was considered theft if he didn't pay.

Authorities said that after paying, the man still refused to leave the premises and became upset at the officers as they were not allowing him to finish his beer.

Officers said that the man then crouched into a defensive position in the back of the booth, with his back to the wall, and acted like he was going to kick at the officers.

NPD said that at this time he was told he was under arrest and officers each grabbed an arm.

Officials said that he tried to pull away, but officers forced his arms behind his back and handcuffed him.

The man was arrested for obstructing a police officer and second-degree trespassing. He was held in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
