NORFOLK, Neb. -- An Iowa man is in custody after a disturbance in a Norfolk hotel Wednesday night.
Norfolk Police responded to the scene on Omaha Avenue after a caller reported hearing a woman yelling for someone to call 911.
Officers were met at the room by 56-year-old Ronald Howland, of Onawa, Iowa. Howland stated that the woman was currently sleeping.
An officer then entered the room, according to NPD, at which time they found a woman with facial injuries and blood on her face.
The woman told police that Howland had assaulted her and strangled her until she was unconscious. She said she attempted to call 911 and leave the room, but Howland prevented her from doing so.
Howland was arrested for third degree domestic assault, strangulation and false imprisonment. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail
