HADAR, Neb. -- Traffic was brought to a halt after a crash near the junction of Highway 81 and Highway 13 on Thursday.

According to Cody Thomas from the Nebraska State Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 12:45 p.m. Thursday near Hadar.

Thomas said that Dodge Ram pickup was pulling a U-Haul trailer traveling northbound on Highway 81 when an eastbound Chevy Blazer traveling on Highway 13 failed to yield the right of way and struck the driver’s side of the northbound Dodge Ram pick-up on Highway 81.

The collision caused the Dodge Ram pickup to strike an overhead light pole that fell across and blocked the northbound lanes of Highway 81, Thomas said.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation removed the light pole from the roadway. The roadway was reopened after approximately 90 minutes.

The driver of the Chevy Blazer was treated and released at the scene. The driver of the Dodge Ram pick-up was transported to Faith Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue, and Hadar Fire and Rescue responded and assisted at the scene.
