Hy-Vee East donates $25K check to North Fork Development Project

NORFOLK, Neb. -- The North Fork Development Project received a large donation today.
Hy-Vee East in Norfolk donated $25,000 to the project which will be used to complete the Johnson Park Revitalization and the First Street Bridge Replacement.
Norfolk Mayor Josh Moenning said the donation is a huge step for the city to get closer to finishing the project.
"It's been very encouraging and gratifying to see the community support for this project in downtown Norfolk and Hy-Vee's contribution is just another step toward getting to the finish line," Mayor Moenning said.
Hy-Vee District Store Director Greg Rottinghaus mentioned that the store wanted to contribute to the project not only to help their stores but to help the close-knit community of Norfolk.
"Hy-vee has also been a strong supporter of our community. We've been with our community for a long time and we felt that, in relation to the location, it would definitely benefit our Hy-Vee stores," Rottinghaus said.
The North Fork development project started in 2016.
The project seeks state grants and private fundraising without raising taxes.
