LINCOLN – Flags are flying at half-staff for the remainder of the week in honor of former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

On Wednesday. Gov. Pete Ricketts, in accordance with a proclamation from the White House, announced that all U.S. and Nebraska flags are to be flown at half-staff in recognition of the life of Albright.

Albright served as United States Ambassador to the United Nations from 1993 to 1997 and as Secretary of State from 1997 to 2001.  She passed away earlier today according to a statement issued by her family.

Flags were lowered to half-staff immediately upon the announcement, and they will return to full staff at sunset on Sunday, March 27, 2022.
