Norfolk man arrested after reported cemetery disturbance

NORFOLK, Neb. --A northeast Nebraska man was arrested for allegedly disturbing a funeral and fleeing police in a Norfolk cemetery.
On Saturday just before noon, Norfolk Police were called to the Hillcrest Cemetery. A memorial service was being conducted, and a black pickup was reportedly driving recklessly throughout the cemetery, which the caller said was creating a disturbance.
Officers arrived and attempted to stop the truck, Norfolk Police Capt. Michael Bauer said.
The truck did not stop for officers, speeding away from police at a high rate of speed on S. 13th Street, Bauer said.
Bauer said the truck continued speeding while weaving in and out of traffic. Bauer said the driver also ran at least one red traffic light.
Officers did not continue the pursuit, but they were able to obtain the license plate number. They then went to the registered owner's address later that afternoon, arresting 31-year-old Nathaniel Gnewuch, of Norfolk.
He was arrested for disturbing the peace, obstructing a police officer and flight to avoid arrest. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
