NORFOLK, Neb. --  A northeast Nebraska gym is doing its part to fight mental health.

Crossfit 1026 in Norfolk is holding an event this Saturday to bring awareness to the issue of mental health.

The event is called the "Lift The Stigma" competition.

Participants enter the event in teams of two and will have to compete in three workouts.

Teams will be scored and the top three teams with the most points at the end of the competition will receive a money prize.

Katie Goodman, one of the owners of the gym, said she hopes the competition will spread the message of how important mental health is to everyone.

"Mental health is just as important as physical health for your overall well-being. There's such a stigma to taking care of your emotional and mental state. And people might think something is wrong with them or they don't get the help they need and sometimes it's too late," Goodman said.

Registration has been completed for the event but mini-challenges will be set up for those who wish to watch and attend the event and get some exercise in.

The competition begins at 9 AM and ends at 4 PM.
