LAUREL, Neb. -- A special groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School District on Tuesday afternoon.

The school broke ground on a new high school and will also be renovating the elementary school as well.

Faculty, staff members, and students from Pre-K to 12th grade all attended the ceremony.

Superintendent Jeremy Christiansen, said the project has come a long way up until now.

“Today was a great day for LCC schools," said Christiansen. "We've been very excited to have this opportunity to be able to kick off the groundbreaking, the new school, construction for the high school and elementary. This is almost four years in the making."

Christiansen also said he is incredibly thankful for all the people that made the project possible.

"We're very thankful to our community and our supporters for helping us bring forward a new school that really is going to serve our communities for generations," he said.

School officials and students said they are all excited about what the future holds within the school district.
