CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College baseball team was back in action at the 2022 ICCAC Division II Region XI Baseball Tournament Friday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Hawks suffered their second loss of the double elimination bracket to Southeastern Community College by a final score of 9-4, thus ending their season.

The Hawks (39-19, 18-15 ICCAC) jumped on the scoreboard early with two runs in the top of the first inning but the Blackhawks were able to score six runs of their own in their half of the inning. The Hawks would rally to score one run in the third inning and another in the sixth but could never string enough baserunners together to come back from the early deficit.

History was made for Northeast this spring as they totaled a 16-game winning streak, a ranking in the polls that had the Hawks as high as No. 8 in the country earlier in the year and a program record of 39 wins in a single season.

“I’m really proud of all the things this team has accomplished,” Northeast Head Coach Marcus Clapp said. “Winning 39 games is not an easy thing to do. We battled all year through ups and downs and overcame injuries to get to 39. I’m proud to have coached this group.”
