NORFOLK, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska theater camp introduces western themes during its annual youth theatre camp at Northeast Community College.

On Saturday, the Norfolk Youth Theatre Camp hosted two separate shows.

This year's theme includes western-style twists to the performances. Director Libby McKay talked about the camp this year.

“We work all week on the kids in rehearsals and acting workshops and tech workshops,” McKay said. “They are involved in every piece of it."

McKay also said there is an importance to having theatre camps in the Norfolk area.

“Because they’re so many kids who I think desire and want that opportunity to participate in the arts,” said McKay. “ I think one of the things that camp does is that’s important is we let them experience all of those different areas."

The shows ran from 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The ages of the children participating ranged from 10-years-old to 18-years-old.
