NORFOLK, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska man is in custody after authorities say he was pulled over with a weapon and drugs.

On Friday night just before 11:00 p.m., a Norfolk Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired license plates, according to Norfolk Police Capt. Michael Bauer.

The driver was identified as Angel A. Ibarez, 28, of Norfolk. A check of his license showed two extraditable arrest warrants from California.

The two warrants were for carrying a loaded weapon while on probation and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Ibarez was then placed under arrest for the warrants and transported to the city jail.

Officers conducted an inventory of Ibarez's vehicle prior to it being towed. During the course of the inventory, a small baggie of methamphetamine was located inside the center console, Bauer said. In between the driver's seat and center console, a knife with an approximately 10-inch blade was located, according to Bauer.

Ibarez was also arrested for possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a controlled substance. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
