Heat advisories littered throughout Nebraska to start the weekend
VALLEY, Neb. -- Of Nebraska's 93 counties, a total of 60 are in a heat advisory heading into the weekend.
With heat indexes expected to reach as high as 110 degrees in several portions of the state, the National Weather Service issued the advisories, which will be in effect until Saturday at 8:00 p.m. CT/7:00 p.m. MT.
While the advisories are mostly confined to the southern two-thirds of the state, north central Nebraska is also included in the advisory.
While the Panhandle and northeast Nebraska are largely excluded from the advisories, temperatures could still reach the upper 90s in the areas outside of the advisories throughout the weekend, though some scattered thunderstorms could provide relief for the northern sections of the state.
