Macy man sentenced for assaulting officer

A northeast Nebraska man was sentenced in federal court Wednesday for assaulting an officer.

OMAHA, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska man was sentenced in federal court Wednesday for assaulting an officer.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Steven Russell, 56-year-old Patrick Walker of Macy, was given 37 months in prison. There is no parole in the federal system. After Walker’s release from federal prison, he will begin a three-year term of supervised release.

On October 30, 2021, a police officer responded to a call in Macy a man inside a residence. After entering the home, the officer encountered Walker. The officer reportedly told Walker that he had to leave the building. According to court documents, Walker then tackled the officer and slammed his head to the floor. The officer suffered head trauma and a laceration.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Omaha Nation Law Enforcement Services.
