Mega Millions Madness: Businesses see uptick from lottery sales
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Mega Millions madness has hit northeast Nebraska.
Gas stations around the area have seen an increase in customers in their stores with Friday's Mega Millions jackpot totaling $1.28 billion.
On Friday, Nebraskans picked up their last-minute tickets to enter the jackpot before the 10:00 p.m. drawing.
Wanda Seckman is the second assistant manager for the Casey's General Store at 2640 West Norfolk Avenue in Norfolk.
She told News Channel Nebraska that the store has seen almost double or triple the amount customers than normal this week.
"We've been really busy selling our stuff in the store," Seckman said. "Plus, the Mega Millions has rocketed customers for the store. I would say there's been two or three times more just because we're selling the Mega Millions. Good luck to everybody and hopefully someone is a winner and there winning from this store."
The jackpot is the nation's third-largest prize.
There have been 29 consecutive drawings leading up to Friday night's drawing.
The last Mega Millions jackpot win was April 15.
