Pierce man drives into Corporation Gulch, gets DUI
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Authorities cited a Pierce man with a DUI after driving into a ditch Tuesday night.
The Norfolk Police Division said they and Norfolk Fire & Rescue responded to a single-vehicle accident around 5:20 p.m. on Aug. 2.
NPD said that the accident happened in the 1000 block of South 13th St.
It was reported that a white Dodge pickup was northbound through the Casey's parking lot at 1020 S. 13th St.
Authorities said that the vehicle continued going north, driving in between the legs of a Casey's sign and driving into Corporation Gulch, a drainage ditch.
Reportedly, a Nebraska State Trooper happened to be in the area and assisted with the beginning of the investigation.
NPD said officers spoke with the driver who was identified as a 30-year-old man from Pierce. During the interaction, officers said that he showed signs of impairment, and they spoke about the prescription medication that the man was taking.
Officials said that the driver was taken by NFR to a local hospital for minor injuries and while at the hospital, he submitted to a chemical test of his urine.
The man was cited and released for a first offense of driving under the influence of drugs.
