NORFOLK, Neb. -- The Norfolk Arts Center will start a program to give back to high school students in a creativity-filled way.

The Norfolk Arts Center will be kicking off its new free arts-inclusive high school program, Artists DRIVEN, on Wednesday.

Artists DRIVEN will conduct various art classes twice a week. The program will last for the duration of the school year at the Norfolk Arts Center, organizers said.

Organizers say it will teach students different techniques every week from aluminum pouring to wood carving.

Norfolk Arts Center's Program Coordinator, Ellie Coffin, says this program will serve as a gateway to a sometimes left out career path.

"We want to bridge that gap and open that opportunity up to high school students to have a creative outlet as well as start opening those doors to see what art can be in their next step of life," Coffin told News Channel Nebraska on Tuesday.

Artists DRIVEN will serve to empower the young adults of the area while creating a safe space for them to express themselves creatively, Coffin said.

She said the program will also help those who wish to jump start their career down a path of the arts.
