NORFOLK, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska man is in custody after police reportedly found an illegal weapon in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

On Saturday night just after 9:00 p.m., a Norfolk Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The
driver was identified as Justis J. Calkins, 24, of Norfolk. A check of his driver’s license showed that it
was currently revoked, and he was taken into custody.

In a subsequent search, a gun was reportedly located concealed under the passenger seat. Due to previous criminal convictions, Calkins is prohibited from possessing firearms.

Calkins was arrested for driving during revocation, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person and carrying a concealed weapon.

He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
