WAYNE, Neb. -- A 71-year-old northeast Nebraska man was killed in a crash in Wayne over the weekend.

According to Wayne Police Chief Marlen Chinn, officers were called to the scene near the intersection of Highway 35 and Centennial Road at approximately 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Chinn said a 2005 Honda motorcycle trike driven by 71-year-old Warren Habrock of rural Emerson was westbound on Highway 35 when an eastbound 2008 Ford Focus driven by an 18-year-old female from Council Bluffs, Iowa, began turning north onto Centennial Road into the path of the motorcycle.

According to Chinn, the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the car, ejecting Habrock from the trike.

Habrock and an 18-year-old female passenger in the car were taken to Providence Medical Center by ambulance. The driver of the car was also taken to the hospital, getting there by private vehicle.

The two occupants of the Ford Focus were treated and later released from the hospital. Habrock died from his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Traffic was routed around the scene for several hours while investigators attempted to re-construct the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.

Wayne PD was assisted at the scene by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Wayne Fire and Rescue, and Providence Medical Center Ambulance Personnel.
