Madison County sends budget for state approval

MADISON, Neb. -- Madison County has approved its budget, tax request, and proposed tax levy for the 2022-23 fiscal year.
Both the county's property tax request and levy will be going up compared to last year.
Madison County's property tax request is $18,049,540 for the fiscal year, a 9.87% increase from last year's $16,427,797 request.
The levy has been set at 0.3903310 cents per $100 of assessed value, this is an increase of 4.31% from the previous year's levy of 0.3742050 cents per $100 of assessed value.
Assessed valuation also saw an increase, with assessed value going up 5.33% compared to last year.
The budget itself increased by 3.57% to total $48,174,441 for 2022-23 and was approved by Madison county commissioners on Tuesday.
The budget needs to be filed at the State Auditor’s office by Friday, Sept. 30. A copy of the budget will be available on the Madison County website in the coming days.
