LINCOLN, Neb. -- A pair of small-town Nebraskans claimed UNL homecoming honors at halftime of the Huskers' homecoming game against Indiana.

Jacob Drake, of Murray, and Emily Hatterman, of Wisner, were named homecoming royalty. Drake is a political science major and the son of Curt and Debbie Drake. Hatterman, the daughter of David and Sara Hatterman, is studying agricultural and environmental sciences communication.

Drake and Hatterman were part of a group of 20 finalists. Of the 20 candidates, 11 were from high schools in Nebraska. The remaining finalists were from seven different states from across the country.

Drake graduated from Conestoga High School. He has served as President of the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska (ASUN), is an OASIS Scholar, and an active member of Alpha Kappa-Psi.

Hatterman, a Wisner-Pilger graduate, is the external philanthropy chair for Gamma Phi Beta sorority and a tri-chair with NHRI Leadership Mentoring. As a Wisner-Pilger student, she was recognized for her involvement in FFA.

Any full-time student at UNL with at last 75 completed credit hours and a 2.75 cumulative GPA is eligible to apply to be a part of the university's homecoming court. Candidates can apply through three different tracks: academics, athletics and campus involvement.
