Project Homeless Connect gives back to Norfolk community
NORFOLK, Neb. -- A national organization that helps people who are less fortunate was hosting their sixth annual event on Friday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk.
Project Homeless Connect was giving back to the community by providing people that are homeless or people of poverty services like medical, vision, dental and groceries, housing, and much more.
Lacy Kines, who is the coordinator for the event, said the project has impact many people throughout the area.
“Project Homeless Connect Norfolk has impacted hundreds in the six years that we’ve had it,” said Kines. “We expect today to serve over 500 people.”
It's also the events third year of it being held at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Kines added they intent to keep hosting it there for years to come.
“We do plan to keep it here at Our Savior Lutheran Church,” she said. “We feel that October is a better part of the year. Not only for our guests that we serve but also being able to recruit volunteers.”
The event started back in 2004 in San Francisco and now has spread all over the country.
