Northeast blasts Marshalltown to wrap up women's soccer regular season

NORFOLK, Neb. -- The No. 8 Northeast Community College soccer wrapped up its regular season in dominating fashion, dropping a 14-0 hammer on Marshalltown Community College.
It was the highest-scoring game for Northeast in a season during which the Hawks have overaged 6.2 goals per game. It was the fifth time all season that Northeast scored 10 or more goals.
The Hawks (16-2-1, 9-1 ICCAC) jumped on the Tigers fast and never let up. Just 12 minutes into the game Northeast was ahead 6-0 on the scoreboard. Aidyn Woodall (Castle Rock, Colo.) and Taryn O’Brien (Lakewood, Colo.) added to their stellar seasons as they both put four different balls into the back of the net in the contest.
“We wanted to go right after it today and finish the regular season with meaning,” Northeast head coach Chad Miller said. “I was excited with how we started off and happy that we kept the level of play up the whole game.”
Miller said his team is now excited for the conference playoffs.
“The girls are excited,” Miller said. “Going into postseason is giving the girls a new purpose. We have to play the same teams for a third time, but their focus has changed and to them it feels new. I am excited to watch them.”
The Hawks will be the top seed in the upcoming Region 11 tournament and will play a to-be-determined opponent in Norfolk.
