WAYNE, Neb. -- Wayne State College remained atop the latest NCAA Division II Central Region Volleyball Rankings announced Wednesday afternoon by NCAA.  The top eight teams in the region will advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament November 17-20.  Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the GAC, MIAA and NSIC Postseason Tournaments with the remaining five spots awarded on an at-large basis.

Wayne State captured the NSIC regular season title last weekend with wins at Minnesota State and #3 Concordia-St. Paul and sits atop the Central Region Rankings at 29-1 overall.  The top five teams in the poll remained the same as last week with Concordia-St. Paul second, Minnesota Duluth third, Northwest Missouri State fourth and Nebraska-Kearney fifth.

Southwest Minnesota State moved up one spot to sixth while Central Missouri slipped one to seventh this week. Central Oklahoma stayed eighth, St. Cloud State moved up one spot to ninth while Harding (Ark) entered the regional rankings this week at 10th.  The NCAA selection show is set for Sunday, November 13th at 9:30 p.m. Central Time on ncaa.com.

Wayne State, ranked second in this week’s AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, is 29-1 and the top seed for this weekend’s NSIC Volleyball Tournament in St. Paul, Minnesota.  The Wildcats face #8 seed Augustana Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the first round.
