WAYNE, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska college is showcasing the artwork of its graduating class.

The Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery is hosting an art show called "Personably Personal" on the campus of Wayne State College.

Four graduating Seniors have their work showcased to demonstrate what they've learned and created through their four years at the college.

Dr. Andy Haslit, the gallery director and an associate professor of art history at Wayne State College, said that while the show doesn't have a theme, gallerygoers may be able to identify similarities between works.

"What's interesting is that when you bring different artists together, there are coincidental and surprising resonances you see between works," Haslit said. "Even though it's the works of four separate artists, with four different voices there are some themes to show that can be pulled out as you walk through."

The gallery does one senior show each semester.

Haslit said the gallery show represents a final project for the seniors.

They are in charge of creating their own gallery and deciding what pieces to display.

"It's important for the seniors because it represents a capstone for their whole career here at Wayne State. Every semester that we do this, the seniors are very engaged and excited to get their work on display," Haslit said. "It's important for Wayne State because it allows us to showcase the kind of work that our art students make after they've been with the program for four years."

The show will be on display until mid to late January.

Afterward, the gallery will host a show put on by photographer Derrick Burbul, a photographer that teaches at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.

Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery is open: Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.  to 7 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m; and is closed on Saturdays.
