NORFOLK, Neb. -- Fire crews from multiple communities battled a house fire in Norfolk.

At approximately 7:00 p.m., the Norfolk Fire Division was called the 400 block of S. 6th Street, with first arriving firefighters finding heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the home.

It took approximately 27 firefighters and 10 rigs about 20 minutes to control the fire and another 2 hours to overhaul the structure.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The property is estimated to be worth about $178,500 and sustained $80,000 of damage to the structure and $50,000 to the contents.

The Norfolk Fire Division was assisted by Norfolk Police, NPPD, Hadar Fire, Black Hills Energy, and Battle Creek Fire.

No one was injured during the incident, according to Norfolk Fire Capt. Lannce Grothe.
