NEBRASKA -- Weather experts are telling Nebraskans to prepare for a potentially brutal week of winter weather.

Winter storm watches have been issued for dozens of counties in central and eastern Nebraska.

Forecasters say as of now, it's too early to be talking about exact numbers, but officials with the National Weather Service say confidence is increasing for several inches of snowfall combined with wind gusts up to 50 mph.

Forecasters say as of now, expect the most severe weather to hit late Wednesday into Thursday.

Perhaps even more troubling than the snowfall amount is the extreme cold.

Forecasters have issued multiple wind chill alerts this week, with wind chills Thursday potentially getting as low as 50 degrees below zero.
