Norfolk Police Division arrests three people over the New Year weekend for drug crimes

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Over the New Year weekend, authorities in northeast Nebraska made multiple arrests for drug crimes.
On Dec. 31, 2022 around 1:16 p.m., the Norfolk Police Division said officers were called to a residence in the 1400 block of Blaine St. for a disturbance.
When officers arrived, they said they spoke with 59-year-old Jay Ahrenholtz, of Norfolk, and a female that he had been arguing with.
NPD said that while investigating the disturbance, officers said they learned that the female had dumped some of Ahrenholtz's property onto the floor of the bedroom.
It was reported that officers were speaking to Ahrenholtz in the bedroom, and NPD said the officers recovered a short piece of a plastic straw from his property that was on the floor.
NPD said the straw tested positive for methamphetamine, and Ahrenholtz was then arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Ahrenholtz was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and was later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
On Jan. 1 around 6:30 a.m., NPD said they were called to the 1200 block of Verges Ave. for a disturbance.
NPD said that when officers arrived, they had spoken with 23-year-old Adriana Orozco and 22-year-old Lazaro Pavon, both of Norfolk.
Police said they were both sitting inside a parked vehicle and admitted to being in a verbal argument.
While the officer was speaking with the two, NPD said the officer reported smelling marijuana coming from inside the car.
NPD said officers then did a search of the vehicle where they recovered marijuana, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Orozco and Pavon were both arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Both Orozco and Pavon were housed in the Norfolk City jail and were later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
