NORFOLK, Neb. -- Multiple businesses in northeast Nebraska are coming together to benefit children.

On Feb. 5, the “For The Love of Reading” Children’s Day Festival will be taking place at the Sunset Plaza Mall in Norfolk.

The event will provide free family fun for all attendees.

Bright Horizons is one of the over 20 businesses that will be in attendance.

The organization will be promoting a “hands are not for hitting” theme at the event.

Lyndsey Figgner, the outreach coordinator for Bright Horizons, said that the event will be a great way for kids to learn that there are different resources in their community with their best interests at heart.

“Sometimes kids don’t always have that trusted adult,” she said. “We’re just letting them know that there is someone else out there that will love and support them, and is there to listen.”

Bright Horizons will also have coloring activities and cornhole at their booth.

About 1,200 books will also be given out to children at the event which will run from 1 to 4 p.m.
