Woman detained after allegedly trespassing, resisting arrest in Norfolk
NORFOLK, Neb. -- On Monday, around 6:15 p.m. Norfolk Police were called to a business in the 1200 block of S 13th Street for a trespassing report.
According to Norfolk authorities, a 44-year-old homeless woman had been given a trespass warning for the property earlier in the day.
Officials said since she returned, the officer informed her that she was going to be given a citation for trespassing. The woman became upset, refusing to sign the citation, according to Norfolk Police Capt. Michael Bauer. Officers gave her time to read the citation, and after reading it, she indicated that she would not show up for court, Bauer stated.
Norfolk Police said following this, officers informed her that she was under arrest. She verbally resisted and physically pulled away from the officers while they were attempting to handcuff her, according to Bauer.
Officials said officers secured her and transported to the Norfolk City Jail. She was arrested for second-degree criminal trespassing and resisting arrest. She was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
