WSC art gallery showcases work of well-known Nebraska photographer
WAYNE, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska college is showcasing the work of a well-known Nebraska photographer.
The Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery on the campus of Wayne State College is hosting an exhibit called “Wandering: A Walk In The Woods”
The photography displayed is the work of Derrick Burbul, an art and photography professor at the University of Kearney.
The gallery just wrapped up its Fall Senior Exhibit, making it a great opportunity to showcase a new type of artwork.
“I try to schedule exhibits that represent a variety of media and a variety of themes,” said Gallery Director Dr. Andy Haslit. “I reached out to him because he’s a photographer and we haven’t had a photographer here in quite a while.”
Many of the pieces displayed focus on a woodland landscape. Other pieces delve into nature and other outdoor landscapes.
Haslit said that despite the theme of the exhibit surrounding nature, attendees can expect each photograph to be captured in different ways.
“They can expect photographs but also a wide variety go techniques. There’s a number of different things he does in terms of medium,” said Haslit. “Even though it’s all photography, it’s a lot of different kinds go photography.”
Burbul’s exhibit will be on display until March 24.
Afterward, the gallery will host its Spring Senior Exhibit, displaying the work of graduating seniors.
